HondaGB500.com, a community for the great Honda GB500 Motorcycle and for all Cafe Racer enthusiasts!

Welcome to the HondaGB500.com website. It's now been over a month since I launched the new website and the number of visitors is increasing daily. I want to invite all GB500 owners and motorcycling enthusiasts to visit the site often and consider contributing your stories, photos and support to the site.

Everyone can join for free and everyone is welcome to post in the forum. If you would like to submit articles for publication, please first join and/or send me an email. I'll be happy to make you a contributor.

But I don;pt want this site to be limited to the GB500, so if you own any other motorcycle, Cafe Racers in particular, I invite you to join as well, publish your stories in the forum and your pictures or videos in the galleries.

This is "your" website and it will grow only if everyone participates.

gb500-01In the late '80's, Honda experimented with a number of very unusual motorcycles. The GB500 Tourist Trophy was one of them. Originally marketed in Japan as a 400, it was exported to the US, Europe and Australia as a 500. It was a moderate success in Japan, but in the US sales were hindered by the American love for large engines and dislike of the fairly high price tag. [Read More...]

I could't help noticing a few ads in my local "Classic Cycle" for sale magazine where some misguided folks were selling near perfect Honda GBs. Considering I paid $1500 10 years ago for my bike (but it's not in nearly as good conditions as the ones sold there) I believe our little asphalt burner is quite a good investment.

Just take a look at these two ads

Just a quick note of apology for our Internet Explorer users. In the past few days we have added some code to the site that is creating difficulties for IE users only. It doesn't affect Firefox, Opera, etc. We are working to fix the problem and in the meantime we have deactivated the offending scripts.

Once again, we are really sorry for the inconvenience.

Newsflash

First of all, I need to apologize to all the loyal users that registered and contacted me during this past year. So many times I tried to get going again with the website, but life and work always managed to get in the way.

If you are not a GB500 owner, you are still welcome to join us and discuss motorcycles in the user forum.

Finally, the other day I decided to at least export the membership roster for safekeeping so I could take down the site and build a better one in its place. Imagine my surprised when I found over 300 registered members had signed up in the last year. (some, unfortunately did not look legit, but most did. Not bad for a site that was never finished or optimized)

Right there and then I decided I waited too long and I took some time off my work to rebuild the site and this time add the type of features that can help make this site an international community of motorcycles enthusiasts.

In the coming days I will send out a newsletter to alert all the loyal users that took the time to register and let them know that finally our little Honda has it's very own community website.

Whether you are a former member of the site, or a first time visitor, do take the time to sign in or register and become part of our little community. The site now has user profiles, video and photo galleries, even a directory and soon I will activate a "classified Ads" script for those hard to find parts.

If you are not a GB500 owner, you are still welcome to join us and discuss motorcycles in the user forum. I plan to expand the site to all sort of Cafe Racers, the older the better, but any two wheeled transportation will be welcomed here.

Everyone can submit photos and videos, but if you'd like to submit articles, blogs, etc. just let me know and I will upgrade your user level so you can post your very own blog or just a news story or two.

Thank you again for giving the site a second chance and I hope to see you here often.

If you need any help at all with the site, please email me.

Breaking

Most riders can easily achieve 0.4 gs in deceleration (moderate braking) under real world conditions. The level of 0.6 gs (hard braking) is achievable by many riders without extensive training. Achieving  0.8 gs (very hard braking) generally requires advanced training and experience, and highly skilled riders are often capable of deceleration levels above 0.8 gs.
