HondaGB500.com, a community for the great Honda GB500 Motorcycle and for all Cafe Racer enthusiasts!

Welcome to the HondaGB500.com website. It's now been over a month since I launched the new website and the number of visitors is increasing daily. I want to invite all GB500 owners and motorcycling enthusiasts to visit the site often and consider contributing your stories, photos and support to the site.

Everyone can join for free and everyone is welcome to post in the forum. If you would like to submit articles for publication, please first join and/or send me an email. I'll be happy to make you a contributor.

But I don;pt want this site to be limited to the GB500, so if you own any other motorcycle, Cafe Racers in particular, I invite you to join as well, publish your stories in the forum and your pictures or videos in the galleries.

This is "your" website and it will grow only if everyone participates.

gb500-01In the late '80's, Honda experimented with a number of very unusual motorcycles. The GB500 Tourist Trophy was one of them. Originally marketed in Japan as a 400, it was exported to the US, Europe and Australia as a 500. It was a moderate success in Japan, but in the US sales were hindered by the American love for large engines and dislike of the fairly high price tag. [Read More...]

New "Group" feature in Beta Testing

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Newsflash

I have just installed a new "Groups" feature. Now in Beta testing appears to be working OK except for a few bugs.

As of this writing, the "Bulletin" feature in the groups is not working but I hope to fix it soon. Unfortunately, I have run out of time for the day. I'll continue tomorrow and I hope to have the new community Groups (clubs) up and running by next week.

If you want to create a group about another motorcycle, you can!

We don't discriminate. We know that ours is a rare motorcycle and not everyone can own it. But there are so many other beautiful bikes out there too! Create a group for your Cafe Racer, vintage bike, even cruisers. We won't tell.

The first club I created is the New Zealand Honda GB500 Moto Club.I also created other groups for the US, Australia, Asia and Europe.

The Group feature is currently being tested. Not all features are working a 100%. Please bear with me during the beta period.

For more information, email me or click on the "groups" menu item.

Tidbits

Breaking

Most riders can easily achieve 0.4 gs in deceleration (moderate braking) under real world conditions. The level of 0.6 gs (hard braking) is achievable by many riders without extensive training. Achieving  0.8 gs (very hard braking) generally requires advanced training and experience, and highly skilled riders are often capable of deceleration levels above 0.8 gs.
